Trump's Cousin Johnny Doc

I'm from Jersey, but I lived in Philadelphia long enough to consider myself a Philly guy, so I was tickled to see Johnny Doc go down.

Johnny Doc is John Dougherty, Jr., who runs the 5,000-member Philadelphia

local of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and was indicted today on 116 Federal counts. Also indicted was Johnny Doc's lifelong pal Philadelphia City Councilman Bobby Henon, who is drawing a $70,000 salary from the union while also grabbing over 150 grand as a councilman. Philly is very good that way.

For decades, Johnny Doc has been using union money as his private piggy bank for everything from baby wipes to more than two million bucks for sports tickets. He's been robbing his membership and with Henon's help has  even been jacking up biggies like Comcast for overpriced electrical work. Obviously, Philly thieves have large brass gonads.

One reason I'm tickled re the Johnny Doc takedown is that I see it as a kind of karmic preview of what's going to happen to Trump sure as God made baby wipes.

Nancy Pelosi has shown that if you get in Trump's face in a serious way he folds like a house of cards and it looks like this has given some backbone to the few Repubs who came over on the Shutdown vote without losing their political lives to the wrath of Trump. Actually, he's holed up now with his insane twitters, which is fine by the bipartisan committee working on a Shutdown solution who are more than happy to keep Trump's ugly nose out of it.

There has just been a trickle of defection so far, but I think that if Trump goes for another Shutdown or an emergency declaration, that trickle might become a moving stream if not a flood. The Repubs are seeing more and more of the Emperor's ass. 

The feds took their time about getting Johnny Doc dead to rights and Robert Mueller and his band of silent sentinels for two years has been working its way up the corruption ladder to the White House itself. They've already indicted Michael Cohen and the redoubtable Roger Stone for lying to Congress among other things and  congressional committee members are saying that Don Junior told a lot of lies to congress and could very well be the next indictment. Wouldn't it be lovely?

So Donald Trump and Johnny Doc are crook cousins under the skin who never saw a chance to grab some bad money that they wouldn't take. At least Trump hasn't stooped to the baby wipe levels – not that we know of anyhow.

A hard rain is going to fall on the heads of both Donald Trump and Johnny Doc. The only difference is that Johnny Doc's hair can take it.
