A Terrorist in the White House

Vladimir Putin probably has enough goods on Trump to keep him in line and going merrily on his way as a “useful idiot,” a term hazily attributed to Vladimir Lenin.

Putin’s stated goal is to diminish and then demolish democracies worldwide, and, even left to his own devices, Trump is doing a revolutionary job of dismantling as many treasured American values and institutions as he can get his small, slimy hands on.

Donald Trump’s total slavishness to Putin makes him a perfect useful idiot, a humanoid toy who has been wound up by Russian meddling in our elections – and probably by Russian blackmail threats -- and set free to wreak havoc, aided by a treasonous Republican party and a base who verifies the adage “you can’t change stupid.”

Trump has been likened to a Manchurian Candidate in the White House, programmed to assassinate the American way of life. Not really. He didn’t have to be programmed. His dark narcissism and background in terror capitalism made him the perfect useful idiot. He is Putin’s master creation, a psychopathic destroyer -- racist, misogynist, totally immoral, ruling by whim, fear, and intimidation.

Donald Trump, in all his black hubristic glory now, has in many ways moved beyond being a useful idiot to the dark realms of terrorism. He is our own, home-grown, casual, loud-mouthed, crazy-haired American terrorist.

He sows fear by the hundred-bushel and lives by one of Lenin’s core beliefs that “a lie told often enough becomes truth.” The America he claims he has made great again brutally separates families and commits hate crimes in his name and with his veiled blessings. He vilifies any who oppose him with childish nicknames and demands they be prosecuted and locked away. He has suggested – jokingly, his advocates claim – that he be made president for life, a truly terrifying concept totally beyond any realm of humor.

He has revived and refreshed the truly terroristic threat of nuclear war, his improvised overtures to Kim Jung Un notwithstanding. There is every probability that either there will never be a Kim-Trump summit and they will revert to name-calling nuclear brinkmanship or that Trump will be so humiliated by Rocket Man if they every actually meet that he will reach for his bigger nuclear button. How’s that for terror, America?

Lenin said, “We need the real, nation-wide terror which reinvigorates the country and through which the Great French Revolution achieved glory.”

The “great” French Revolution led to the Reign of Terror and Lenin’s revolution led to Josef Stalin’s slaughter of 30 million of his own countrymen by starvation, the bullet, and the horrors of the gulag.

Now, Vladimir Putin is bent on recreating the glories of Mother Russia, glories which he deeply believes can come about only through the downfall of the world’s democracies, which he and his oligarchic henchmen are working unceasingly to accomplish.

And they are being aided and abetted in America by a useful idiot who instinctively sees fear as a weapon and a policy. Robespierre, the seminal terrorist of the French Revolution, was ultimately guillotined by the very citizens he sought to rule.
